Patricia Ann Frith Vaughan (Patsy) passed away peacefully on May 22, 2024, at Vanderbilt Hospital after a brief illness. Born on June 8, 1941 to Ollie and Mai Frith, she grew up in Nashville, attending West High School, Class Of ’59. Growing up in the Blakemore Methodist Church, she was active in the youth group. In addition to her school activities, Patsy was a proud member of Girl Scout Troop 160 from 2nd grade through high school. She maintained many friendships from her high school years and looked forward to the monthly West Lunch Bunch Alumni meetings. After high school she attend Emory University on a National Merit Scholarship where she was active in Kappa Kappa Gamma and graduated Phi Beta Kappa in 1963.
Patsy returned to Nashville after college and worked as a children’s department buyer at Cain-Sloan Department Store. She then worked as a Resident Manager at Clover Bottom Developmental Center advocating tirelessly for those with intellectual disabilities especially those children who were entitled to school services.
Patsy chose to take early retirement and became a full-time volunteer, following the legacy of both of her parents. She spent many hours as a docent at Cheekwood and at TPAC. She volunteered for Vita, offering free tax return preparation for those qualifying, Second Harvest Food Bank, the Friends of Warner Park, Friends of the Green Hills Library, and St. Luke’s Community Center. She was particularly proud of the many students and families she served as a volunteer with the EF High School Exchange Program placing and supervising students from other countries studying for a year in the United States.
Besides being a voracious reader, often keeping two or more books going at a time, Patsy was a world traveler journeying with the Road Scholar trips from Appalachians to Australia.
She is preceded in death by her parents Ollie and Mai Frith and is survived by her cousin Marcy Shucks, St. Pete Beach, FL. and a host of friends who loved her dearly and in turn were dearly loved by her. She will be greatly missed.

Patsy it was so great to get to know you through volunteering. I am joyful God blessed me with the opportunity to get to know you. Grace and peace to the family.
She was a special person .
I first met Patsy online and later through her travels. We have lost an exceptional woman. The world needs more people like Patsy. She certainly lived her life to the fullest.
For years she was an online friend who I met once when she came to Toronto. I could tell she was a strong willed person ;but I did not know about all of her volunteering. Another angel has gone to heaven.
Online or in person, she was supportive, opinionated, knowledgeable.. just the whole package and a good friend. I loved hearing about her volunteer work.
This is a tough loss, but I don’t think she left anything undone.
